Eastgate Site Plan

Eastgate Mall was one of Indy’s original retail shopping malls and was built in the mid 1950s.  The mall is located about seven miles east of downtown Indianapolis just inside the I-465 beltway.  The mall sits on 40 acres of property surrounded by out lots.  It was originally built as separate buildings and was enclosed in the 1972.  There is approximately 370,000 square feet of enclosed space.  When the mall was constructed, tax credits for fallout shelters were available, and consequently many of the buildings have hardened shelters underground.

Lifeline is building out Eastgate with 460,000 square feet of data center space supported by 250,000 square feet of office space.  One of the buildings in the mall, the two-story Burlington Coat Factory building at the northwest corner, is ideally suited for data center space.  The floor and ceiling are 10” thick reinforced concrete and the walls are reinforced concrete as well.  This building houses the first 60,000 square feet of data center, split roughly equally between the two floors.  Lifeline is then building four free-standing buildings with 100,000 square feet of data center each along the eastern and southern edges of the property.  The first of these planned buildings is pictured in the site plan above.  Lifeline is refitting the rest of the mall space as customized office space to support the data center tenants.  Some clients have also expressed interest in fallout shelters as hardened call center facilities.

Lifeline builds all data center space as hybrid tier IV facilities.
