Introducing the Midwest Internet Exchange (M-IX)

Lifeline Data Centers is proud to introduce the Midwest Internet Exchange (M-IX), an Internet Exchange (IX) based in Indianapolis, IN with facilities in several data centers throughout the United States. One of the goals of the Midwest-IX is to bring Bilateral and Multilateral peering to an expansive network of data centers, along with keeping local Internet traffic within local infrastructure and reducing Internet Service Providers' cost through an Internet Exchange Point (IXP).

Introducing the Midwest Internet Exchange (M-IX)If you are an ISP, content provider, Cloud services provider, or anyone else who needs to exchange traffic with other networks, then an exchange can be a huge benefit for your organization.

This mutually benefiting relationship is established by the type of traffic and routes sent and received. Midwest-IX recommends open peering policies to companies that have a lot of content to distribute to access networks or want to put out as much traffic as possible. If the open peering policy is not put into place, then traffic will peer with parties similar in size.

Using the Midwest-IX provides a wealth of benefits, including:

  • Reduced transit purchase costs
  • Better routing
  • More flexible choices
  • Transit sales opportunities
  • Reduced delays
  • Aggregation
  • Greater resilience
  • Networking
  • And more

These benefits may vary depending on the type of business (ISP, Content Provider, Transit Provider, etc.), but whatever the type of business, Midwest-IX makes it easy. We offer many cost-efficient services, including:

  • Internet Peering
  • Private InterConnection
  • Closed Groups
  • Route Servers
  • Metro Market Peering
  • Wave Services

Let Midwest-IX connect you with peers within the metro market, or carry your peering across private transit to other data centers. We can also refer you to our exchange members for things like transit, co-location, cloud services, and other connectivity options.
