Why Your Business Should Care About Data Center Downtime

By now, most people know that downtime can cost your business a lot of money, whether you have an internal or external data center. But, what people don't realize is how much it really costs if your system goes down for even a minute. According to the Ponemon Institute:

Why your business should care about data center downtime

The average cost of data center downtime across industries was approximately $5,600 per minute in 2010. This increased to $7,900 per minute in 2013 - a 41% increase.

Can you imagine how much that would cost you, both from a hard and soft cost perspective, if you had downtime for even 10 minutes?

At Lifeline, we place a lot of importance on making sure this doesn't happen. That's one of the big reasons we're a Rated-4 data center, which means we have the highest uptime possible across industry standards (99.995% uptime). Whether you're handling your data protection internally or have an outsourced resource, you should try to adhere to these standards to make sure your data is protected to the greatest extent.
